Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) Supervision:
On Becoming a CCPT Therapist

“I’m not sure if I am doing this right!”
“I know I make a lot of mistakes, but I’m not sure how to improve them.”
“I love really CCPT and I just want to get better at it”

Objectives
These supervision groups provide you with an opportunity to enhance your knowledge of CCPT, refine your current CCPT skills, and increase your awareness of the parallel process between your personal and professional growth as a child-centered play therapist. The groups are limited to three supervisees to achieve in-depth and personal instruction. (The degree to which you perceive this experience as enriching will largely be a function of the individual goals you set for participation in the group.)

Structure

  • Didactic instruction on CCPT, including theory, facilitative responses, limit-setting, play themes, and more!
  • Review videotaped play sessions of group members.
  • Conduct a play session and receive live supervision (a 2 way mirror will be used).
  • Participate in feedback sessions after watching live sessions of supervisor and other supervisees.

Pre-requisites

  • Basic knowledge of CCPT skills and theory.
  • Currently providing therapy to at least one child with whom you will utilize CCPT.
  • Commitment to bring videotaped play sessions to supervision.
  • Meeting with Dr. Yumi Ogawa to determine if the supervision group will help you effectively achieve your goals.

The groups will be supervised by Yumi Ogawa, Ph.D., RPT-S, who has received extensive training and mentorship in CCPT by significant contributors to this clinical approach, including Garry Landreth, Dee Ray, and Sue Bratton. Supervision hours will be counted at a higher % toward the RPT because Dr. Ogawa is an RPT-S.
